A State-level workshop is going to be held at Bhopal on June 5 on the occasion of World Environment Day. Problems related to environment and their solution will be discussed at the workshop, which will be addressed by noted environmentalists and experts. On the occasion, Environment Awards for the year 2009-10 will also be given away to three best industries. Minister of state for Energy and Mineral Resources Shri Rajendra Shukla will be the chief guest of the function, which will commence at Hotel Jehan Numa Palace in the state capital at 10 am.The workshop will be held on the topic “Technological advancement in pollution abatement.” Those who will give presentation include solid waste management expert Dr. Amiya K. Sahu; plasma gasification technology expert Shri A. Bhandari; e-waste management expert Shri B.K. Soni; urban solid waste resource recovery specialist Shri K.S.V. Nair and technology advancement specialist Dr. A.B. Akolkar.
On the occasion, three industries will be bestowed with Environment Awards for better environmental management. The industries selected in this connection include Messrs Vikram Cement, Neemuch which will be given award worth Rs. 75 thousand and a citation in the highly pollutant category, Messrs Piramal Healthcare Products, Pithampur, will be bestowed with award worth Rs. 50 thousand in general pollutant category and Messrs Saman Enterprises, Nagda, will be honoured with Rs. 25 thousand award in small category.
