Shimla, July 11 : Over three lakh saplings of different varieties, including ornamental plants and shrubs, would be planted alongside all national highways and major roads in the state during a one-and-a-half month special plantation drive to be undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD) from July 15 to August 31.This was disclosed by Thakur Gulab Singh, PWD and Revenue Minister, while presiding over a meeting of the department here last evening.
He said special patches would be identified alongside the major roads for beautification and plantations on pilot basis so as to make roads the “blooming highways” of the hill state.
