Delhi : The MeT Department has appealed to people not to pay heed to rumours. They have clarified that following high intensity quakes, there are several aftershocks which shouldn’t be mistaken as quake tremors.
After continues rain and fresh tremors several rumours were doing rounds. But setting aside all these rumours Indian Meteorological Department has asked people not to panic and to not pay heed to any rumours.
Meanwhile, Government has asked media houses to exercise restraint in speculating about aftershocks after the massive earthquake in Nepal saying it could complicate relief efforts.
In a media advisory, External Affairs Ministry said, in view of the coordinated efforts of our agencies to evacuate stranded citizens, and to provide relief in the wake of the Nepal Earthquake, it is requested media houses may exercise restraint in speculation about possible after-shocks.
The advisory further said “Undue speculation may cause unnecessary panic complicating relief efforts.”
Government of India is making all efforts to provide relief and evacuate stranded citizens in time.
