To carry forward a lineage is the dream of a lifetime for many people. It an honour that everyone wants to be associated with. Something similar was on the mind of actor Shahbaaz Khan, currently seen on television these days as Tuntun Singh.
The actor, who is currently seen in Zee TV’s Afsar Bitiya, he is the son of Classical singer Padmabhushan Ustad Amir Khan. And just like his dad he too is very fond of music. “I am very passionate about music. I can listen to songs endlessly,” says the actor who has an acting career spanning across two decades. In fact, even his forefathers were musically inclined. His grandfather was a sarangi and veena player, Shahmir Khan served at the court of Holkars of Indore.
Sadly, he couldn’t follow the family’s footsteps. “I wanted to become a classical singer just like my dad, but my mother thought I won’t be able to do justice to it,” reveals Shahbaaz. The actor was all of eight, when his legendary father breathed his last. Hence, his mother insisted that he shouldn’t take up singing as his profession as he didn’t get a chance to train under his father. “She was not against me learning singing, but she could foresee that I will be compared to my father, in spite of not having trained under him,” he clarifies.
However, he is immensely happy with the way his career as shaped and is happy being an actor. “I am extremely happy and content being associated with creativity, in whichever form,” ends Shahbaaz.
