Chandigarh, dated- 26th Sept, 2019 : The esteemed Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi has organized a programme of Rang-e-Masti a 2 days Sufi Musical Evening. A Sufi Musical programme by Dr. Mamta Joshi and her instrumental team after a gap of long time for the entertainment and pleasure of eminent people and citizens of Chandigarh fond of sangeet of varied choice enriched by past legends and artists of India and abroad. Dr. Mamta Joshi is a famous Sufi singer who embarked on her musical journey early in life, is a rare combination of music and academics. Dr Mamta Joshi- A Myriad Multi talented Music Genius and Peerless Performer of World Acclaimed Chronicles of a Superb Soulful Sufiana and Folk Musical stardom.
The Agaaz: Singing
, eulogizing and reveling in the pristine glory the Punjabi folk music and
Sufiana kalaams during her adolescent phase of life, prodigious Mamta stamped
her versatility as a multitalented vocalist and Kathak danseuse in a very short
span. Mamta was exposed to the rudiments of classical music at the tender age
of 6 by her maternal grandfather S. Balwant Singh Sehgal (Nanaguru) and later
to Ghazal, Sufiana and lighter genres by her elder brother Gulshan Tandon. But
her blessed tutelage under Pandit Shanker Mishra and Dr Arun Mishra of Indore
gharana not only awakened and transformed her dormant abilities into fruitful
artistic creations but also embellished her aesthetic potential through the
rigorous riyaaz which invariably empowers her to illuminate the horizons of
melody of compositions of all vocal musical genres with consummate ease. She
attained proficiency in Khyal , Tappa and Thumri gayan in classical and
literary poetry Ghazal, Sufiana and cultivated her musical traits to embellish
Western fusion with Indian Classical music.
A Sufi Musical Evening by Dr. Mamta Joshi the programme
started with the song “Jane Wale
Hamari Mehfil Se Chand Taaron Ko Sath Leta Ja” after presenting a song
“Hai Kaha Ka Irada Tumahara”, Hajji Lok Makke Nu Jande”, “Mera Eh
Charkha Noo Lakha Kudey”, “Menda Ishq Vi Tu Menda Yaar Vi Tu”, “Alli Alli Kehna
Subha Shaam”, Last performance on the occassion presented a song “Dama Dum
Mast kalander”. Sh. Deepak Pawar on Tabla, Sh. Roshan Lal on Dhol, Sh.
Deepak Singh on Benjo, Sh. Rajinder Sidhu on Harmonium, Sh. Bhupinder Singh on
Keyboard, Sh. Jaswant Singh, Shivraj & Ashwani on Back Vocal.
Sh. Kamal Arora, Chairman, Sh. Atul Sharma, Vice Chairman, Sh. Balkar Sidhu, Secretary, CSNA welcomed the audience and later honored the artists.
