31 July : The memories and songs of the multitalented singer Mohammed Rafi continue to stay alive even today when the nation reminisce him on his 29th death anniversary.
Mohammed Rafi was dearly referred to as Rafi Saab. He was a renowned Indian playback singer famous for some of the most celebrated songs from Bollywood movies.
Mohammed Rafi worked extensively with R.D Burman and the duo bestowed songs in super hit movies like Kaagaz Ke Phool, Tere Ghar ke Saamne, Pyaasa, Guide, Aradhana and Abhimaan.
In 1977, Rafi was conferred with the National Film Award for Best Playback Singer Male for the song that is popular till date, “Kya hua tera Wada” from the movie “Hum Kisi se Kam Nahi”.
He won six Filmfare awards for Best Male Playback Singer for “Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho”, “Teri Pyari Pyari Surat Ko”, “Chahunga Main Tujhe”, “Baharo Phool Barsao”, “Dil Ke Jharoke Mein” and “Kya hua Tera Wada”.
Mohammed Rafi was the singing voice of many notable actors like Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar and Rishi Kapoor.Rafi died on 31st July, 1980 following a massive heart attack.
Rafi saab is the superlative singer of the world. Till date there is no singer in the world who can replace him. His songas are still as popular as they were when they released. Ther will never be a Rafi again. People with such execellence do not born everyday.Every mood , every situation was in Rafi saab’s reach. He was a singer par execellence.
