Chandigarh: Bundelkhand Natya Kala Samiti, a theatre group from Jhansi, staged Hindi comedy play ‘Sadhu aur Sundari’ on the eighth day of ‘Hasya Natya Mahotsav’ – ‘Hasna Mana Hai’ on Saturday at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh.
The story has been written by Raja Mahendra Vikram Burman and directed by Dr Himanshu Dwivedi. Supported by Bundeli songs, the act revolves around a disciple of a spiritual guru so that he may get free food. The story takes a turn when he falls in love with a maiden who is later bitten by a snake. The Guru on his disciples’ request puts his soul in her body and she starts behaving like a hermit. Her soul is later returned from the heavens as it appears to be a mistake and enters the Guru’s body. The situations depict confusion and comic elements till the end when the Yamdoot enters the seen and sets things right.
Actors Himanshu, Nishant, Balkrishna, Santosh, Poonam, Pragati, Rishi, Lakshay, Saransh, Abhishek, Narendra, Roshan, Vikas, Kritendra, Raj, Avatar, Gaurav Sharma, Gaurav Mathuria, Sumit, Ashirwad, Deepak, Sagar, Rajat, Vivek, Namdev, Praful and Mahendra played their roles to perfection.
NZCC Director Prof. Saubhagya Vardhan, CSNA Chairman Shri Kamal Arora and President Sanskar Bharti Chandigarh Shri Mukesh Sharma were also present among others.
The ‘Hasya Natya Mahotsav’ organised by North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India), will go on till September 21. Artiste from Prayagraaj, Uttar Pradesh will present Hindi comedy play ‘Ek Ladki Paanch Diwane’ on Sunday.
