Mohit Chauhan is an Indian pop and playback singer, mostly known for his romantic ballads. His mellifluous voice has wooed millions all over the country. He had his first brush with success with the song “Dooba Dooba” with the band, Silk Route in 1998.
He has never received any formal training in music, but sings and plays guitar, harmonica and the flute. Mohit loves Himachali folk music and Pahari songs and has been a part of a musical group right from his college days in Dharmshala.
The A. R. Rahman song “Khoon Chala” in the film ‘Rang De Basanti’ in 2006 got him noticed in bollywood but actually got mainstream success with the song “Tum Se Hi” from the movie ‘Jab We Met’. He launched his solo debut album ‘Fitoor’ in 2009 that comprises acoustic music and is based on life, travel and romance.
On Micromax MTV Unplugged, he lends his soulful voice in the acoustic format to popular hits like ‘Dooba Dooba’ from his first album, ‘Tum Se Hi’ from the film Jab We Met, as well as Masakali from the movie ‘Delhi 6’, Te Amo from ‘Dum Maaro Dum’, ‘Peelon’ from ‘Once Upon a time in Mumbai’ and ‘Tujhe Bhoola Diya’ from ‘Anjaana Anjaani’.
