North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) organized ‘Folk and Semi-Classical Music Festival’ at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh from September 20 to 23, 2018 at 06.30 pm onwards.
An official informed that for the first time in Chandigarh a music festival dedicated to women empowerment was organized in which eminent female singers gave musical performances.
On the concluding day of the festival on September 23, 2018, Padmashree Malini Awasthi from Lucknow presented folk singing. Malini Awasthi begun the programme with ‘Swarmangla Mangle Shivay Sarva Sadhika’. Then she sang ‘Kahe Karti Ghumaan Gori Savaan Mein’, which received a lot of applause from audience, followed by ‘Keseriya Balam More’. Then she sang ‘Teri Nazar Se Jo Nazar Ladayega’ followed by ‘Teri Katili Nigahon Ne Mera’, ‘Badi Haseen Hai Sham Koi Saz Toh Chhedo’ and many more folk songs. The audience enjoyed a lot and Malini Awasthi received a lot of applause for the musical presentations.
Sh. Dinesh Kumar, Organization Secretary, BJP, Punjab was the Chief Guest on the said occasion. The Chief Guest honoured Padmashree Malini Awasthi with mementoe in the presence of Prof. Saubhagya Vardhan, Director, NZCC, Patiala and other dignitaries present on the said occasion.
