Manoj Godara, Chandigarh 19th Feb 2011: This new lass in film fraternity is indeed here to stay . The beauty with brains, Parineeti Chopra, 23, will be launched by Yash Raj Films in Maneesh Sharma’s ‘Ladies V/S Ricky Bahl’, starring Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. Parineeti has been signed for a three film deal.
After returning to India following her completion of a four year Honours Degree in International Business, Finance and Economics from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester , UK, Parineeti joined YRF over a year ago in the marketing department as a part of the promotional and PR team.
Given an unexpected chance to audition for the film, she awed both Maneesh Sharma, director of Band Baja Baaraat and Aditya Chopra. She was immediately cast for a role as one of the ladies who fall prey to the smooth talking guile of debonair Ricky Bahl.
“I think Parineeti was phenomenal in her video test. I had no doubts that I wanted her in my film. In fact, when I worked on the script, I had her at the back of my mind, having interacted with her while she was in office,” said Maneesh Sharma.
The Chopras are in high spirits and the parents Pawan and Reena, brothers Sahaj and Shivang, and cousin Priyanka Chopra are very excited and proud of her achievement.
Parineeti’s little brother Sahaj Chopra is exulted at his sister’s latest achievement and really regards her in high admiration. “She has been my constant pillar of support and I am really thankful to God that he has been so gracious to her,” he added.
Priyanka Chopra who has already made her mark in the tinsel town is supportive and excited about her little sister’s debut as an actress.
“This is the first time Yash Raj Films has launched someone in such a way. I am very happy YRF has signed her. She is a part of YRF’s marketing department. In fact, she had worked on my own film ‘Pyaar Impossible’. I think it was one of her first films,” said Priyanka. She later worked on Badmaash Company, Lafangey Parindey and Band Baja Baaraat too.
The film will be produced by Aditya Chopra based on a story developed by him. The dialogues have been written by Habib Faisal, and Salim-Sulaiman have given the music.
The film will hit the floors sometime in April, and is slated for release in December this year.
“I had no idea that one day I would get a chance to become an actress and that too under such a leading banner. This is like a dream come true for me and now I want to do it for the rest of my life,” exuded Parineeti.
As a child she always had stage aesthetics and actually had her first stint with “theatre” at the age of 4 when she participated in a school skit with much confidence for such a small child.
Her schooling in Convent of Jesus and Mary, Ambala Cantt gave her many more opportunities to perform in her 14year tenure. She played lead roles in skits and musical shcool plays like Oliver Twist, Claudine Thevenet, The Sound of Music as well as participated in dance, debate and declamations.
Her confidence and dedication also won her the title of Head Girl for two years.
Parineeti always harboured a fierce passion for movies but never dreamt that the world that fascinated her in more ways than one would one day materialize with her actually taking her first steps in that very environment
A God- fearing and humble girl, she thanks God every day for this opportunity and prays that she does justice to the huge responsibility that she must shoulder from now on.
