3 Dec : The first ever Korea-India Music Festival and Cultural event organized by the Government of Nagaland in collaboration with Arirang TV was held at the Nagaland Secretariat Plaza on 2nd December 2008.
Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio who graced the occasion as the chief guest while addressing the function, extended his heartfelt greeting to the Arirang officials and entourage led by Vice-President of Arirang TV and Radio from Korea, Lee Sung Wan. He said that through this exchange of music and culture, we can be united in fighting against terrorist activities, which is a threat to humanity. He added that Hornbill Festival is an International Festival, which brings people together through music and culture, which he opined, will promote peace and harmony to the world and humanity.
Lee Sung Wan while voicing his congratulations expressed his appreciation to the Chief Minister of Nagaland for his attention to the Korea-India Music Festival. Wan also expressed his deepest sympathy to the victims of terrorism in Mumbai and wished India a speedy recovery from the pain.
He further added that the friendship of Korea and India goes back a long time in the past. According to ancient history King Kim Su Ro married an Indian princess, about 2000 years ago. Since then India and Korea has developed partnership in the field of politics, economy, culture and in many other fields. He also expressed his wish to have a better understanding between Korea and India through this music and cultural event staged here in Nagaland.
