The Punjabi movie industry is slowly but surely developing and from comic interludes, moving towards more serious topics that can move the masses. However, some bit of humour is always welcome as is provided by Hektor Sandhu, who is essaying the role of a character called Tom, in an upcoming Punjabi movie Yoddha, which releases on October 31. Sandhu is a man of many seasons and is sure to make a big mark in Pollywood. He has a long way to go and with the multi-talented personality that he is, Sandhu is sure to leave an indelible mark on the Punjabi screen.
Directed by Mandeep Benipal and produced by Kuljinder Singh Sidhu, who plays the main lead, the movie has Rahul Dev playing the villain. Sandhu provides the comic relief in the otherwise serious movie. He is extremely good with his comic timing and will surely leave the audiences in splits. He is ready to compete with the best and is all set for a long innings in Pollywood.
Born and brought up in Switzerland, Hektor Sandhu has a Swiss mother who got married with a Sikh based in Patiala. He has taken professional training from Anupam Kher Acting School – Actor Prepares – in Chandigarh in 2011 and secured the first position in the coveted professional course. Sandhu is multitalented; he acts, sings and can speak four languages – Swiss, Hindi, Punjabi and English, which is quite an achievement. He also featured in popular Punjabi songs, including Master Saleem’s famous song Love Letter. Sandhu also made an appearance in popular reality show on Channel V, Date My Folks hosted by popular VJ Andy. He is well-educated and possesses an MBA degree. He loves to socialize and working out in the gym is a passion with him. Sandhu regularly works out for two hours a day. “Fitness is a passion with me. I met Kuljinder Sidhu in a gym, we got friendly and he offered me this role. I then worked on my diction and language,” he says.
Hektor Sandhu who is also a social activist got associated with the global campaign of women empowerment of Chandigarh based NGO ‘We for We’. The campaign is aimed at spreading awareness on the problems being faced by women across the world. He met internationally acclaimed women from different countries who are touring the country to support the global campaign of the NGO. These women included Serbia Anna Proveda, celebrity Make- up artist, Diana Irina, Miss Bikini International, Jennifer Scell de Herrera, Miss Tourism of the Millennium, Alexandra Urcan, MBA, Marketing expert, Carmin Martinez, Miss European Union , Tatiana Torres Rojas, Miss Heritage World Educator and Deviyah Daranee, Miss Earth Malaysia. In an event held at Artex Informatics, sector 34 Chandigarh on Monday, Hektor Sandhu took a pledge to support the causes related to women and asked every woman to come out of their shell and fight for anything that is unjust.
