In an interview with Live India CEO Mr. Sudhir Chaudhary, the ‘Dabbang’ Khan opens up on his upcoming film Ready, his 23 year long career and his recent friendship with Rahul Gandhi.
If it is Salman, it has to be a hit. That is the buzz among the audiences and Bollywood industry now a days. Salman now gears up for release of his next film, a comedy titled Ready, which is already making waves everywhere with extensive publicity and promotion. However Salman has lots more to say apart from Ready when he was interviewed by CEO of Live India, Mr. Sudhir Chaudhary in Delhi recently. Here are a few excerpts from the candid chat.Q. Dabbang was a superhit and now you are up for release of Ready. How nervous are you?
Salman: “Ready is a another comic caper and even after so many years, whenever there is a film on release I do get a little nervous thinking whether audiences will like it or not. I don’t decide and choose films but yes I do have expectation from my films as well like any other viewer. There is not only Salman’s film in a year infact there are many, Aamir, Akshay everyone will release their films so yes you have to see that your films does well and should recover the costs.”
Q. First ‘Wanted’ then ‘Dabbang’ and now ‘Ready’, all seem Action Hero oriented films, any particular reason?
Salman: “I feel that since a few years, the heroism from our film has gone missing. Like the films we grew up watching they had the Action heroic characters which we still can’t forget. So I thought why not bring in the trend and yes do some action hero centric roles and films. You know when a common man sees a film, he likes to see someone better than him, someone who has it in him to battle out all the odds. So yes I am trying to bring back some heroism back in our films.”
Q. When you did Dabbang, were you apprehensive about of its bix office run or did anyone say anything about the film whether it was a right decision or not at that time?
Salman: “Well People did say a lot of things. Someone questioned the title. Someone quoted that no one would understand the films, it is a typical UP-Bihar film. People also said that it would ruin my career and you know stuff like that, but when the first promo hit the market, we got a tremendous response and there we knew it that we had nailed it. Later on once the film released, the word of mouth went so strong that people recommended film to their near and dear ones.”
Q. Is ready an extension of Dabbang?
Salman: “If it had to be so ,we would have released Dabbang only once again then. However Dabbang 2 is in its scripting stage and I shall be shooting that after ‘Ek Tha Sherkhan’. But Ready is totally different. It is a comic action. It also has pretty interesting cast as well. It is fun-filled with lots of twists and turns and I am sure it will tickle people’s funny bones hugely.”
Q. Twenty Three years ago when your Meine Pyaar Kiya had released, you had a great body built that time also, you use to punch people on screen that time also and and even after 23 years now you are enjoying your heroism on screen. How have you managed to maintain it?
Salman “Now I am 23 times more disciplined. I have 23 times more difficulty doing it all. You know sometimes your body gets rational and you have to keep a little more cautious while doing action films. But that is what our job is after all.”
Q. What exactly is your mission with Being Human and we have heard that you are annoyed at the pirated ‘Being Human’ merchandise that has taken over the market?
Salman: “Well it is natural to be annoyed and furious over such a shameful act of certain lot of people. With Being Human, I wanted so serve humanity and with the sale of the merchandise the funds collected goes for charity. But with the duplicate merchandise in the market is like a hindrance in our contribution to society, a little that we do.”
Q. We heard of your recent friendship with Rahul Gandhi. If ever you have to do anything in collaboration, politically or non politically, would you go ahead?
Salman: “Rahul is a great human being. Look I am not trying to understand politics. I am just being human. If I can take care of just this, that is enough. The same thing Rahul is doing but at a bigger level and platform.”
