Goa, 9 Sep : The Entertainment Society of Goa is organizing the 3rd Edition of the Short Film Center, held parallel to the International Film Festival of India; Goa- 2010. Entries are invited from Short & Documentary film makers to be a part of this prestigious business market of Films.
Awards for the International Competition are the “Golden Lamp Tree Award” for best Short/Documentary Film in International Competition – Cash prize of Rs. 5 Lacs (USD 12,000 approx), “Silver Lamp Tree Award” – Cash prize of Rs. 3 Lacs (USD 7,000 approx) and a “Special Jury Prize” – Cash prize of Rs. 2 Lacs (USD 4,500 approx).
Award for Environmental Competition Section Issues “Vasudha Award for the best film on Environmental Issues” – a Cash prize of Rs. 3 Lacs(USD 6,500 approx).
Film makers may submit entries through the www.shortfilmcenter.org website. The call for entry closes on 10th October 2010.
The Jury Members invited last year for the International Competion section were Mr. Shaji Karun (Chairman of the Jury),Mr. Juhani Allanen , Mr. Michael Orth, Mrs. Marina Anna Eich, Mr. Philiph Cheah and for the Environmental Competition Section were Mr. Mike Pandey (Environmental Jury), Ms. Lucia Rikaki, Ms. Naira Margaryan.
The 2009 award winners in the International Competition the films selected for “Golden Lamp Tree Award” was Kelkkunnundo (Are you Listening) by Geethu Mohandas , the “Silver Lamp Tree Award” was Wagah by Supriyo Sen and the Film Selected for “Special Jury Mention Award” was Just a Pitch by Eric Raynaud. In the Environmental Competition the films selected for “Vasudha Award” for the for the best film on Environmental Issues is Underground inferno by Sanjeev Sivan and Umesh Aggarwal and also the film “Meltdown in Tibet by Michael Buckley.
