By Madhup Yadav , Chandigarh, 7th July : A glittering showcase of jewellery designs, produced by students of Jewellery Design and Technology Institute (JDTI) went on display today for two days. Students were displaying their work in a collection bursting with a breadth of highly original styles. Featured works had products in various categories like fashion jewelry, bracelets, earrings, cufflinks and more. On the masterpieces materials and techniques had been mixed, merged, combined and varied – with creativity knowing virtually no bounds. The designs ranged from casual to elegant, displaying the students’ passion for innovation. Each jewelry piece was individually crafted to perfection. The rising stars of contemporary jewellery and silversmithing had pushed the boundaries with the innovative use of materials and the progressive use of metals.
CEO of JDTI, Ms Ritu Malik said, “Our students are much focused to hard work. Their carefully developed original designs are fuelled by imagination.” “It was a great platform for the students and the experts to come together to exchange ideas” she adds.
Ex-student cum fashion designer, Shalika Jain said, “The latest jewellery collection, Zoya, launched by Tanishq, showed some of her mesmerizing design pieces of jewellery. “There is nothing more personal than a piece of jewellery that reflect India’s great mélange of cultures and traditions, combining exotic with state-of-the art, and ethnic with cosmopolitan Jewellery is something sensual, something to be touched, felt and flaunted.”
Designer Paridhi Sahay runs her own brand of customized jewellery. She guided and interacted with the students on how to make a career in jewellery designing. Both the designers have been associated with the Lakme India Fashion Week, designing jewellery for famous fashion designers.
