Two days workshop on Business Research Methods concluded today at SCD Government College Ludhiana with the commitment by the students that they work maintain Research ethics in their career and undertake projects to solve the problems of the industry. Today’s’ sessions were divided into two parts. In the first part Dr. Ashwani Bhalla, Executive Vice President of the Punjab Commerce and Management Association delivered the talk on “Research Methods for Business a skill building approach. He emphasized that every manager should have a research bent of mind to be successful in the organizations.
He highlighted the difference between pure and applied research and motivated the students to be expert in applied research in order to become good manager. He emphasized that modern technology has made research an exciting and a relatively smooth process. Personal computer with any means to an Internet connection places one within easy reach of knowledge of what is happening in the global markets and how the world economy is impacting on business. He also explained the possible areas of research in commerce and management in various functional areas like accounting, finance, marketing, human resource management etc. The second session was emphasized on the students presentations on the various topical areas.
The most attractive presentation was made by Aatish a student of M.Com Business Innovations. He talked on Questionnaire design and beautifully outlined the various types of questions which are generally presented in the structured questionnaire. Many others students like Sakshi Gupta, Sakshi Jain, Priyanka Sharma, Roshni Kapoor , Rohit etc. Most of the presentations were focused on the various tools of research generally used in the social sciences. In the End Dr. Bhupinder Khurana Senior Professor in the department of Commerce outlined the steps in selecting the techniques of research. It is pertinent to mention that M.Com Business Innovations is a industry oriented programme focused on Interdisciplinary research run under the innovative scheme of the University Grants Commission.
