Mohali, 8 March : Shemrock Senior Secondary School organized a seminar on Women International Day. The main agenda on this moment was Empowerment .In this 21st century Woman Day can no longer be confined to the four walls of the house, and this is peak time to raise voice against the injustice being meted out to her. A presentation on how educators can empower women by making the parents aware of the gender bias, which begins at home, and how it can be curbed. The presentation was given by Ms. Gaganjot, Counselor of the school. Mr. S.K Sharma, the Principal of the school also addressed the gathering and apprised them of the real meaning of liberation, which begins in the mind.
Principal Sharma said that Women are playing an important role in the society whether as a mother, sister, daughter, wife or a CEO of an organization. Women especially in India struggled a lot for peace, justice, respect and development and are still struggling in some places. Whenever they are given a chance, they proved themselves as capable as a doctor, teacher or a manager. Nowadays women have proved themselves in almost every profession.
He further added that Women’s Day should not be celebrated merely as a ritual. This occasion should be used to awaken the society to the evils and atrocities which are meted out against women under the patriarchal set ups. Women had to realize their potential and become key players in the social change.
