11 Feb : Is it fair to put a stay on the first step of the young ones towards their future? The simple case of LKG admissions is being blown out of proportion. Even the High Court is in the ‘state of comma ‘ whereas the RTE clearly says that the child should be 6 plus for class 1. Parents have already been harassed to the extreme. We want to ask – Is LKG equivalent to Pre-Nursery as per the RTE Act (for a 3 yr old wants to seek an admission in LKG)? It has always been that a kid of 3 yrs has been admitted to pre-nursery and the one who is 4 yrs old goes to Nursery or ‘LKG ‘as it called in the concerned schools. The schools – Sacred Heart, Carmel Convent and St. Johns have never imparted Pre- School education. So, Why the future of children who have already applied for these schools being put on stake? Had the RTE regulations not been introduced in this case, the eligibility criteria would have been the birth date between 1st Oct., 2006 – 31stSept., 2007. This is what these schools had been following for the past years. We request the parents who have filed the petition not to play with the future of their wards. The Management of the said convent schools can think better than us to fix the age criteria as they are the leaders in the Education. While doing this we are harassing the school management also. All the children in the age group of 3-4 can have the chance in the coming year. If they would be allowed, there would be 50% less chances of success in the draw to them also. They should wait for their turn. All the concerned parents of children of age group 4-5 yrs are requested to kindly assemble in front of Carmel Convent School, at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, the 11th of Feb., 2011 to discuss next course of action.
