Haryana : To commemorate International Day of Peace with Right to Peace as the theme of the 2014 more than an annual ritual, we need to stop war of words and blame game which disturb the peace of mind individually and collectively around the world including Korea and India. We need to be more targeted to change everything for the sake of peace which calls for brainstorming to change our looks, actions and words (LAW) for making it the real law of the land universally applicable. Peace mean absence of violence and war of all kinds anywhere and everywhere which calls for preventive measures more than curative including peace education.
For full enjoyment of human rights, the promotional measures at all levels starting from those at the level of UNO and the local levels of peace is necessary but not sufficient. To make them sufficient, we need concrete plan of action instead of lip serve to the great cause of peace, progress and prosperity of one and all.
To foster peace as well as development, we need public- private -partnership (PPP) model with people oriented government working in partnership with an active civic society. The slow progress in both peace and development is partially because of conflicting and uncoordinated approaches between the diverse stakeholders. For moving toward a comprehensive approach, we need first to diagnose the key issues and obstacles for the coordination among stakeholders. The present time difficulties include unbalanced approaches and fundamental disagreements about the overall vision as well as mission.
It is an established reality that the cost of conflict is higher to the cost on peace initiatives by any one at any level.
Peace has multiplier effects on the various sectors of the economy including agriculture, industry, trade and services. There is a strong case proper redistribution of wealth for ensuring peace at all levels. There is always a threat to peace due to inequalities of various kinds and the gap between rich and poor.
To ensure peace and reduce conflicts, we need voluntary efforts at all levels by individuals who can join hands to make forces.
Population and poverty are the greatest pollutants disturbing the environment for peace which must be controlled.
To say no to deprivations, discriminations and discontent among the people, we need to ensure development which is sustainable ensuring inter generational equity.
To enhance hope as a good breakfast than a bad supper in the peace process, we need real education which ensures proper, productive and practical use of hands, head and heart of every individual. It is necessary and sufficient for sustainable development and also relationship management with neighbouring nations.
Our leaders need to prove their capabilities of International diplomacy for bringing peace.
Let us encourage peace as an essential input of growth in various sectors of the economy. Let peace economics be identified as a separate branch of economics which justifies Nobel Prize for Peace to an economist like Mohammad Yunus (2006) of Bangladesh providing micro finance with empathy ( not sympathy) for the vulnerable sections of the society .
For ensuring co-existence of both the communities in Ayodhya, let the new government announce international spiritual university where all religions are taught and researched for promotion of secularity as coexistence of religion as milk and sugar and not like oil and water.
To make a history, Hindu- Muslim relations within India also required to be strengthened which are polluted to a considerable extent due to Mandir- Masjid issue at Ayodha (Ram Janam Bhumi).
This step taken by the Government of India will prove its capabilities of International diplomacy of highest order in bringing peace not only in Indo-Pak relations but also at the level of United Nations justifying a permanent seat in Security Council.
There is logic and rationale to justify ethics, integrity and values in public service as we are victim of bad governance at all levels of operation in the various sectors of the economy. There is exponential growth of corruption with exactly double rate of the global prevalence and surpassed everything. There is devaluation of moral values more than the Indian rupee. To become corruption free , we need awareness and change with positive mindset.
Let us generate socio-economic wisdom among all the stakeholders to implement the programmes of the government with sense of commitment and honesty of purpose with no wastage of resources in our beloved INDIA with attributes of independence, non-violence, democracy with integrity and amity. Let wisdom prevail for good governance as SMART administration with simple, moral, action oriented, responsive and transparent system. The monitoring and evaluation at all levels in the economy is the need of the hour.
We should look forward with hope, optimism and a high level of confidence for the bright future of peace initiatives at all levels in all times to come. This call for economic peace which can be ensured through spiritually guided materialism strategy flowing from our epics like Bible, Geeta and Quran which conveys that God is one and is worshipped in temples, mosques and Churches around the globe. It is the need of the day for solving all of the economic and non economic problems of the people. Let long live the world peace for which every global citizen has a right as well as a duty.
