Chandigarh : Swami Dayanand Saraswati, founder of DAV society, has set forth the serving of society, underprivileged and poor as his primary goal in his life. With his philanthropic teachings and thoughts as a driving force, NSS unit, DAV College, Chandigarh has started an educational program “Vidya-Deep” to teach and train children belonging to the weaker and underprivileged sections of the society in slums and villages around chandigarh. The NSS unit of the college has deputed bright, dynamic, responsible and academically outstanding students to teach children in Dhanas and other surrounding villages. Dr. Kulvir Sra Dhindsa and Prof. Amitabh Dwevedi, Program officers of the NSS unit of the college specified that the program will inculcate the sense of responsibility among the students and will help them in their holistic development. Initially, teaching and training sessions will be organized on weekends. Dr B.C Josan, Principal, DAV college congratulated the NSS unit for their noble endeavor and promised them all the support to make the program a success. Dr Josan specified that such programs shall help in further strengthening of the “Sarv Siksha Abhiyaan” of the Government.
