Chandigarh , 5th December 2011 , during the “Road Safety & Traffic Awareness Programme” at KBDAV-7, Chandigarh nearly 1500 students took the pledge “We as responsible citizens of Chandigarh, take the Oath to obey the Traffic Rules and be self-disciplined on the roads while driving.”
The Traffic Rules and Road Safety Awareness Programme was presided by DIG Police Headquarters and Traffic, Chandigarh, Shri Alok Kumar, who was the Chief Guest of the day and appraised the students regarding Traffic Rules and Road Safety. He said, “Self Discipline is most important to avoid any road accident.”
Other dignitary present on the occasion was DSP Traffic, Chandigarh, Shri Vijay Kumar, who successfully answered the queries put up by the inquisitive students who asked questions from the police officials.
Kushagra from Class XI-C asked, Sir, What does the Traffic Police do to avoid the people who don’t follow their lanes while driving ?
Another girl, Arushi from Class IX-D suggested that the Traffic Police should be more public-friendly to avoid any fear in the minds of people.
The whole programme in the school was coordinated with the support Traffic Marshal Chandigarh, Shri Gurnam Singh.
Principal Madhu Bahl said, “I am confident that my School Children shall strictly follow the Traffic Norms when they grow up and drive on the roads independently and safely by being the disciplined citizens of India.”
The whole programme ended with full fervor and pledge taken by the students, staff and principal along with traffic officials.
