Patiala : A team from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, Patiala comprising of Ankit Acharya, Leeza Grover and Priyanka Choudhary participated in the 11th Surana & Surana International Technology Law Moot Court Competition, 2012 which was held at Symbiosis Law School, Pune. The competition was a collaborative effort of the Symbiosis Law School, Pune and Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai.
The aim of the competition as stated by Mr. S. Ravichandran, Academic Head, Surana & Surana International Attorneys was to recognize the emergence of the technology law in today’s society and also that this competition has been addressing surfacing technological issues of the recent times. 32 teams from all over the country participated in the competition and the team from RGNUL has won the Best Memorial Award which constituted of cash Prize of Rs. 4,000, a winner’s plaque, certificates and a Platinum subscription of SCC Online Web Edition for a year. The prize was given by Hon’ble Justice Deepak Mishra, Judge, the Supreme Court of India who commended the students on their good performance.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Dr.) Paramjit S. Jaswal also praised the winning team and stressed on the need of good research for any law student and also promised the students a new Hi-tech library for the University with access to numerous national and international journals along with their online databases. Prof. (Dr.) G.I.S. Sandhu, Registrar, RGNUL also congratulated the team for bringing laurels to the University.
