Mohali,26 Dec : On the eve of this New Year, the male students of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Jhanjeri, Mohali, vowed not to accept dowry at the time of their marriage whereas the girl students also pledged not to marry a boy demanding dowry. As the semester examinations conducted by Punjab Technical University ended, a majority of students took this solemn pledge before proceeding for their winter vacation. Others resolved to support campaigns for “Save the Girl Child” and “Anti Drug Addictions”. One of the most heart rendering resolutions made by the students is to donate blood whenever it is needed so that no patient dies for want of blood. Students of each stream i.e. B.Tech, MBA, BBA & BCA took these initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Satnam Singh Sandhu Chairman CGC & President Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal said that several seminars are arranged on human values and moral ethics for along with their course curriculum as such it becomes a part of their culture to help social welfare activities. Dr. G.D. Bansal, Director General informed that it is a regular practice to hold blood donation camps at CGC and one such camp will be arranged in Jhanjeri campus as soon as the students return after their winter vacation, in January .
