Chandigarh, April 7,2015 : WHO has dedicated April 7, 2015 World Health Day to food safety, to catalyze collective Government and public action to put measures in place that will improve safety of food from farms, factories, street vendors and kitchens.
Keeping in view the above students and members of Adolescent Education Program (AEP) Club, of Stepping Stones Senior Secondary School, sector 37/D, celebrated the same through various events organized in the school and also participated in an Interactive Session organized by Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali, on the theme FOOD SAFTEY conducted by Dr. Shivani Gulati(Nutritionist – Max Hospital).
In this session, DrShivani discussed about significance of food safety, contamination of food by harmful bacteria, viruses, parasites etc. The difference between good and bad bacteria was also discussed in detail. The session which included a skit was very informative for the students, who were presented with many unknown facts which are normally not covered in school textbooks. The informative videos shown, drove home the point of maintaining good personal hygiene and be aware of the quality of food intake to ensure a long healthy life.
The session ended with a pledge wherein all students promised to abide by the principles of health and hygiene as discussed during the day.
