Y.S. RANA, CHANDIGARH—Appliances including 35 wheel chairs, 20 calipers; three tricycles and some crutches and artificial were given to the children with special needs (CWSN) in a function held at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22 here on Monday. The function was organized by the Chandigarh Unit of Sarv Shiksha Abhyan (SSA) in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO).
Mr. Chanchal Singh and DDSE – II Mrs. Saroj Mittal, presided over the function as the Chief Guests. They went around the venue and interacted with the children.
Mr Singh said that multiple disabilities among the children were assessed by medical teams from GMSH-16 and a team from ALIMCO and provided the required assistive devices to CWSN. He asked the parents to send children to school so that they could come over their disabilities. He also praised the joint effort of CWSN and ALIMCO for this noble cause.
The function was started with a welcome song by the students of the school. Principal of the school welcomed the dignitaries and parents and children. The vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Nidhi Goel, APC-IE, SSA.
