Chandigarh : A special Day-Night NSS Camp was organized by Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector – 26, Chandigarh. Throughout the week, 150 volunteers were on their feet during various activities. The Chief Guest, Mr. Varinder Walia , Editor, Punjabi Tribune, Chandigarh, highly appreciated the activity of NSS Volunteers. He admired the students for their zeal and enthusiasm which they showed. N.S.S Liason officer Mr. Bikram Rana was also present on the occasion .He motivated the students to continue their selfless service to the community. The program officers and the voluntiers were thankful to principal Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjeet Kaur Sohi, for providing guidance as well as infrastructure for making the camp successful.
During the camp, Yog Shivir by Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Panchkula helped the students to know more about the various Asans which can be easily performed without much guidance. Balwadi of Bapudham Colony of sector 26 was adopted by the volunteers . As Balwadi was in need of repairs, the volunteers white washed and painted walls, doors and windows. Fresh educational posters and charts were made and put up using their creativity, making the Balwadi fresh, colourful and cheerful.
The college campus was also cleaned and fresh rangoli pattern were done in the corridors. “EHSAAS”, the Red Ribbon Club did their best and a slogan writing competition was also organised. For AIDS awareness a talk by Dr. Sunil from Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society was organised. The students were made aware of how AIDS spreads and what the misconceptions about the disease are. A workshop on developing Leadership Skills was held for the volunteers by Mrs. Savneet, Head of the Psychology Department and Dr. Akanksha Tripathi from Psychology Depatrment of M.C.M.D.A.V. College.
An effigy of Ravana was prepared by the volunteers and Dussehera was also celebrated.Each evening was fun filled including dance, games and songs. College Prof Dr Amneet, Jasneet Kaur and Tavinder kaur Coordinated the special day night camp.
