Chandigarh : Ten days workshop on Fermentation Process “From Petri Plate to Bioreactor” organized by the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology at GGDSD College, Sector 32-C, Chandigarh concluded here today. The workshop was organized under the agies of Star College Scheme of DBT, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
In technical session, various aspects of design and control system of laboratory to industrial scale fermenters, the process development, Immobilization, filteration, protein purification scale up, downstream processing and wine production. Dr U.C. Banerjee from NIPER, Er. Anoop Verma at Thapar University, Patiala, Dr. A.R. Chaudhary, Dr. Mani Shankar Bhattacharya and Dr Senthil Prasad from IMTECH, Chandigarh and Dr V.K. Joshi from Dr. Y.S Parmar University, Solan acted as resource person. As the part of the workshop students also visited NIPER and IMTECH Chandigarh where they learnt different approaches involved in fermentation. The workshop concluded with concluding remarks of Dr. Vijay Prabha, Panjab University, Chandigarh. She emphasized on application part of fermentation technology.
According to Dr. Bhushan Kumar Sharma, Principal, GGDSD College, this workshop facilitated participants to interact with speakers and learn the basics of the fermentation technology through exclusive practical sessions.
