Chandigarh ; For the benefit of Girl students, A.C. Joshi Library, Panjab University has installed one Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine and a La-Femme Care Bin for the collection and disposal of sanitary waste. The machine would dispense one sanitary napkin after inserting a coin of Rs.5/-. This is the first such machine to have been installed at Panjab University with the initiative taken by Dr. Raj Kumar, university Librarian. Sanitary waste disposal unit and liner system incorporates innovative EPA-approved Silver Ion technology which enhances the elimination of harmful bacteria and malodours from the washroom. It is the latest patented technology of Biomaster, UK, which provides round-the-clock protection against bacterial build-up from harmful species like EColi giving a safe, effective and permanent antimicrobial protection. This system aims at providing clean and hygienic away from home washrooms.
The machine was earlier installed on a trial basis for one month in November and received a very good response from the girl students and on the demand and request of the girl students and keeping in view the concept of hygiene, A.C. Joshi Library has now installed the machine.
