CHANDIGARH—MAY 25—Sandeep Hans, DPI (Schools), Chandigarh Administration, has been repatriated to his parent State of Punjab. Attending the last function, exhibition-cum-sale of items prepared by the students of vocational courses of government schools, he handed over charge on Friday. During his 17-month-long stint in DPI, Hans’s name had become synonymous in the Education Department with new schemes and innovative thinking.
He shared his stint as DPI, and said,” The most satisfying moment of one’s life is when one’s services are recognized by the public. I tried to bring many innovations in the education system; some were accepted some were not. My role has been that of a guide and I look at my stint with satisfaction.”
Besides, being the prime mover of many a first-time scheme. He himself a sports lover, has identified ten government schools whose spacious unused playgrounds would be developed into playfields for various sports disciplines. He is the brain behind setting up academies of fencing, cricket, hockey and football in schools and equipped with latest sports infrastructure to produce crop of players from government schools.
Besides, vision of education department has turned into a reality when the first smart school in Sector 53 was inaugurated. The classroom teaching will go beyond the confines of text-books. He innovated an idea to start mid-day meal kitchen from the school itself. It will not only save money of the education department but also provide quality and fresh meal to the students.
These schemes have been widely hailed and will go a long way in shaping the education system in Chandigarh.
