The 67th Republic day of the country was celebrated at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh with great patriotic fervour and zeal. The school reverberated with the spirit of patriotism and solidarity.
Echoing the spirit of pride, solidarity and jubilation, the function began with the customary unfurling of the tri colour by Ms. Nirupama Subramanian, Resident Editor, Indian Express, Chandigarh and the school Principal Mrs. Vineeta Arora, which was followed by the National Anthem. The tranquil rendition of the prayer, “Ek Tu Hi Bharosa” was then sung in unison by the entire school infusing the air with the spirit of patriotism.
The celebrations then proceeded towards a spectacular march past led by the outgoing Captain Daksh Kadian, following him were the students from classes VI to X who marched smartly to the tune played deftly by the school band. Later, an exhilarating performance by the girls of classes of VIII & IX left the audience mesmerized.
The Investiture ceremony saw the proverbial ‘Change of Guard’ that took place with the induction of the new School Cabinet. The Outgoing School Captain relinquished its charge to the Principal, who then handed over the school flag to the newly inducted School Captain, Saurabh Gupta. Following the Investiture Ceremony was the oath taking ceremony. The school Choir then paid a musical tribute to the brave and courageous soldiers of our country infusing everyone with deep emotion and patriotism.
The ceremony was followed by inspirational speeches by the outgoing Head Boy and Head Girl, highlighting their achievements during the year.
The Award Ceremony commenced with students being felicitated for their commendable achievements in various fields such as Academics, literary and Cultural Activities, Performing Arts and Sports at National and State Level. As many as two hundred plus students were felicitated for their commendable achievements and for bringing laurels to the school. Daksh Kadian XII A was conferred with the prestigious Louis Vicente Giay award for Leadership. The most coveted C. Subramaniam award for excellence in character went to Abhishek Sethi XII C2, Rudhir Mehra X C and Kshitij Khanna VIII A, while the Pranlal Devkaran award for outstanding character was bagged by Madhav Bansal X A. The Sh. Venkatesan Memorial Award for best outgoing student went to Rudhir Mehra and Simmerdeep Kaur of X C. The prestigious Col. & Mrs. B.K Sharma Memorial Award for All Round Achievements, Character and Self Determination was conferred upon Devanshu Dhawan XII C2, whereas another very prestigious award, Smt. Premda Pradhan Memorial scholarship for securing A1 grade in all subjects went to Vrinda Jindal X B. The Chander Prakash Sehgal Memorial Award for Business Studies was given to Rhythm Chhabra XII C2. The Charu Puri memorial award for the best all rounder was awarded to Anupriya Dhonchak XII A.
The Chief Guest appreciated the students for presenting such an extraordinary show. Highlighting the importance of our constitution she spoke about the freedom of expression and the other privileges we enjoy in Independent India She also congratulated the prize winners, encouraging them to persist in their quest for excellence and urged them to stride ahead with determination and hard work.
