Let us enrich ourselves with a variety of experiences without phobias for trying a variety of research methodologies based on primary and secondary data,’ opined Dr. M.M. Goel, Professor of Economics & Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. He was addressing the research scholars of the Dept. of Economics, University of Allahabad and members of the Bhartiya Arthik Shodh Sansthan here today on the topic ‘Challenges in Quality of Quantitative and Qualitative Research’.Prof. U. S.Rai, Dean ,Faculty of Commerce and Vice President, BASS presided.
India stands backward in research and innovations with just 2.3 percent of the research publications in the world where as China’s contribution is 16.5 percent, told Professor Goel.
To keep our passion for research and writing, let us accept the challenge of no cut and paste job which amounts to plagiarism (intellectual theft) which is punishable by Law, believes Professor Goel.
There is a strong case for substantial funding for conducting high quality research for finding economically viable solution to the emerging challenges. There is a need for policy implication oriented research and not only t – value significance at 95 percent level of significance with many disconnections, told Professor Goel.
Let the young researchers feel motivated to apply for major and minor research projects as there is no dearth of money with the UGC, told Professor Goel
The quality of research is directly correlated with the infrastructure, commitment of the researcher and guide to do something worthwhile, told Professor Goel.
We are required to learn to tell the findings in an objective manner, told Prof. Goel who has successfully guided 16 Ph. D scholars and 25 M. Phil dissertations.
