Desh Bhagat University celebrated the New Year by taking a pledge to strengthen brotherhood and to stand firmly against Social Evils in the country. The New Year was welcomed by holding Path (Recitation) of Sri Sukhmani Sahib for World Peace and Human Brotherhood. All the members of Teaching & Non-teaching staff of the university participated in this religious programme.
Chancellor of the university Dr. Zora Singh conveyed their best wishes to the whole Desh Bhagat Family and prayed that the year should bring peace, progress and prosperity for the people of the whole world in general. They also inspired the staff to ensure complete respect and dignity for the females at home as well as in the society. Mata Jarnail Kaur Ji, mother of Dr. Zora Singh was especially present on this occasion to bless the Desh Bhagat Family.
Pro Chancellor Tejinder Kaur while conveying her best wishes to the staff, exhorted them to work for taking the university to new heights so that the students taking education here may feel proud of their alma-mater.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shalini Gupta while greeting the whole staff said that the New Year has come with new happiness and with new spirit. We all have to contribute in the development of our country and society. She also urged to work wholeheartedly for developing such a mind-set in the society that no woman feels unsafe and none is exploited or blackmailed.
In the afternoon, there was a tea party for all the staff members. The whole staff enjoyed this programme and greeted one another with good wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Desh Bhagat University Registrar Dr. Varinder Singh, Controller Examination Dr. I.S. Sethi and Director School of Management and Computer Sciences Nidhi Gupta were also present on this occasion.
