Chandigarh : Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh organized its 34th Annual Prize Giving Function in the College premises. As many as 387 students were awarded prizes for excelling in the field of academics and co-curricular activities. 39 were honored with Roll of Honour (for Academics: Gunjan, Rakhi, Sna, Ranjana, Nandini, Gunjan Sharma, Sonia, Banmeet, Teena, Kaumudi, Sheetal, Jagpreet, Kanchan, Manisha, Shweta, Shalini, Shubhpreet, Twinkle and for Co-Curricular Activates: Aditi, Satwinder, Pooja, Komal, Tavleen, Priyanka, Yashashwini and Sports: Neeru, Suman, Raveena, Priya, Raj, Mahima, Sarbjeet, Ravina, Harjinder, Gurpreet, Kavita, Jyoti, Navjot and Sonam. 41 students were awarded College Colour for Sports andCo-Curricular Activities . Around 204 Students were awarded academic prizes for securing positions in University and House Examination and 96 students were awarded mementoes for cultural activities,sports,NCC, NSS and Blood Donation etc and to office bearers of Students Council. Smt. Saroj Vasudeva Scholarship was awarded to Devinder Kaur of B.Sc (III) and Bhawna of BA-III. Jyoti Kaushal of B.Sc-III Bio-Tech Honours was awarded with STUDENT OF THE YEAR AWARD and Laxmi Devi Memorial Cash prize of Rs 1000. Beena Amarjit Memorial cash prizewas awarded to 18 students who exceled in the field of Academics. Bhawna, Ankkita, Priya and Gunjan Sharma were awarded best Student award in the streams of Arts, Commerce, Science and Post Graduate respectively.
Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occasion while speaking on the occasion he exhorted the efforts of the faculty and students and asked students to have constant quest for knowledge and thrust for competition which would see them through in highly competitive world. While complimenting the prize winners he appreciated the college for providing the holistic development to girl students in different areas. “Scoop” Annual News Letter of the Functional English Department was also released on the occasion by the Chief Guest. Principal Mrs. Mani Bedi highlighted the achievements of the College for the current session. NAAC awarded ‘A’ grade to the college. The department of Science & Technology, Govt.of India has sanctioned grant of Rs 70 Lakhs under FIST Scheme. This is the only affiliated college of Panjab University selected by DST. Dr. Parvinder Singh, Controller of examination, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the Guest of Honour. Mrs. Sushmita, Vice Principal proposed a vote of thanks.
