The Directorate of Extension Education in association with the Department of Food Science and Technology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), will organise a four-day training course on “Preservation of fruits and vegetables” for the farmers and farm women from January 2 to 6, 2012. Giving contours, Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education, PAU, said that the subject-matter specialists of the university would educate the trainees about the significance of preservation of fruits and vegetables and the domestic and household activities.
Besides, the experts would whet the skills of the trainees by imparting them practical training in the making of mixed fruit jam, badam sharbat, pickles and the usage of amla, carrot and tomato in food items such as candy, murabba, sauce, puree and chutney. The programme will also acquaint the farmers and the farm women with the various training programmes, planned to be organised by the PAU for their benefit, told Dr Gill. The registration for the course will take place at 9.00 a.m. at the Kairon Kisan Ghar. Dr (Mrs.) Rupinder Kaur and Dr Pushpinder Singh Ranot will be course and technical coordinators for the course.
