The India Post, Chandigarh, 12th November, 2008 : The Regional Resource centre for Adult & Continuing Education, Panjab University , Chandigarh organised three days workshop on life-skills for HIV/AIDS from November 10-12, 2008 at ICSSR Complex, P.U., Chandigarh .
Dr. Manjeet Paintal, Director, RRC said that the objective of the programme was to enhance knowledge and impart awareness techniques on adolescent education, life skills and HIV/AIDS. She said that all the participants were Key literacy functionaries from districts of Hoshiarpur, Mansa, Patiala, Nawanshahar and Chandigarh participants prepared an action plan to integrate HIV/AID issues on the ongoing literacy programmes for their respective districts.
Dr. Shanker Chaudhary, Programme Officer UNESCO was the main resource persons who involved all the participants in the sessions in the participatory approach method. He gave simple exercises which could be easily be carried out in the villages for dissemination of messages, this was highly appreciated by the participants who felt that the workshop helped them to gain knowledge have positive attitudes and develop appropriates skills.
Dr. (Mrs.) Vinita Gupta, Project Director, SACS Chandigarh, Prof. Shalini Mehta,Department of Anthropology, Dr. Avnish Jolly, Dr. Navleen and Dr. Anuradha Sharma were the main resource person/ speakers of the programme.
The districts demanded that such programmes should be organised at the districts and block level by RRC. 50-60 KRPs from U.T Chandigarh and four districts of Punjab attended the three days programme at ICSSR Complex, P.U., Chandigarh.
Dr. Dazy Zarabi, Programme Coordinator, PDE, RRC thanked all the participants who actively participated in the programme and also thanked all the resource persons who contributed and made the workshop a very productive workshop according to Dr. Manjeet Paintal Director, Regional Resource Centre, PU.
