The University Institute of Engineering and Technology of Panjab University organized a two day workshop on “Mathematical Modeling and Computational Techniques” at the Department of Mathematics. The objective of the work shop is to bring together applied mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers and researchers from academia and industry to share and discuss their ideas on the range of topics. The workshop features special lectures, invited talks, posters and paper presentation. The Director, Prof. Vig in her welcome address has mentioned that this workshop is first of its kind organized by the Department of Applied Sciences. During his inaugural address Sh. V. K. Singh (Finance Secretary, UT) emphasized on the immediate need of modeling and computational techniques in modern era. The workshop was attended by eminent scientist like Prof. J.S. Rao (TEQIP-II North Zonal Head), Prof. I.B.S. Passi (INSA Senior Scientist, IISER), Prof. Madhu Raka (D.U.I. Panjab University) and Prof. S. K. Tomar (Head, Mathematics Department).
Over hundred participants across the nation participated in this workshop. Twelve eminent speakers with expertise in diverse disciplines from IIT’s and reputed research and teaching institutes delivered their expert talks. The workshop ends with the address by Prof. B. S. Komal with a word of appreciation towards organizing committee comprising of Dr. Aditya Kaushik (Coordinator), Dr. Minto Rattan (Co-coordinator) and Dr. Kalpana Dahiya (Organizing Secretary).
