Chandigarh : University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology celebrated its 54 years of existence on December 21, 2012. About 100 illustrious alumni from various batches from industry, academia and research institutions participated in the event. Also the retired faculty including Prof. L. R. Sharma, Prof. Kulwant Singh, Prof. R. K. Jindia, Prof. Y. S. Bhatia, Prof. J. Singh, Prof. Paramjit Singh and many other stalwarts participated in the event. Prof. S. K. Sharma, former Dean University Instructions and Fellow Panjab University and one of eminent alumni of the department did the honor of lightening the lamp. Prof. R. K. Chhabra, Chairperson, UICET delivered the inaugural lecture and welcomed the guests. The highlights of the event included a talk by Silver Jubilee 1987 batch Sh. Arvind Murwaha entitled Behaviors and Attitudes for Success. There was an interactive session with the alumni wherein they shared their experiences, memories in the department and their favorite moments. A colourful and vibrant cultural program was organized by the UICET students.
The institute has also established an Alumni Association, Panjab University Chemical Engineering and Technology Alumni Association (PUChETAA) to develop liaison with its alumni. An Alumni Fund with voluntary donations and contributions has been established for promotion of academic and research pursuits of the Institute through its alumni. Rs. One lakh was contributed by the Silver Jubilee batch for the upliftment of the department.
