CHANDIGARH – March 31, 2008: As the academic year falls to an end, it’s the time for farewell function. In our Department of Statistics, the students of M.Sc.-I gave a farewell party to their seniors of M.Sc.-II at Mathematics Auditorium on the University Campus.
The theme of the party was "Sham-e-Rukhsat". The party started with a welcome to the teachers and senior students by ’tilak ceremony’. It was then followed by lightening the lamp by the chief guest Prof. G.P. Mehta and the Chairperson Dr. Suresh K. Sharma. The function comprised of Sarswati Vandana, welcome song, some fun-loving & mind troubling games, and dance and skit performances. Interesting and well meaning titles were given to senior students as a token of love. Xitiz Gupta and Rajesh Sharma ofM.Sc.-II were respectively chosen as Miss Statistics & Mr. Statistics by the judges Dr. Sangeeta Arora & Mrs. Renu Sharma. The cultural evening concluded with gidda performed by M.Sc-I students. A slide show was also organized by the senior students depicting their wonderful memories during their two-year stay in the Department. Prof. G.P. Mehta gave the prizes to the winners and encouraged the students. After the cultural programme, all joined the DJ-party followed by Dinner. The farewell function ended with lots of fun and entertainment according to Dr. Suresh K. Sharma, Chairperson, Dept.. of Statistics.
