Chandigarh, September 8, 2013. Sh. Satya Pal Jain, Ex-City BJP MP and a member of the P.U. Senate and Syndicate, has urged Prof. Arun Gorver, the Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh, to hold an independent enquiry into the allegations of irregularities levelled by the Joint Action Committee of Panjab University Students against the elections held to Panjab University Students Council on 4-9-2013 and take appropriate action against the guilty.
In a letter written to the Vice Chancellor today, Mr. Jain also attached a copy of the memorandum which has already been submitted by the students to the Vice Chancellor.
Today, a delegation of the Joint Action Committee of the Panjab University, consisting of representatives of various students organizations like SOPU, PUSU, ABVP etc. etc. met Sh. Jain, gave him a copy of the memorandum and urged him to take up the matter with the university authorities. Among others, Shri Davesh Moudgil MC, Mr. Robin Brar (SOPU), Mr. Yadwinder Singh (PUSU), Mr. Kuldeep Sheoran (HSA), Mr. Bhupinder Singh (ABVP), Mr. Gurdit Singh (SOI), Mr. Anil Ghanghas (INSO), Mr. Dinesh Chauhan (ABVP), Mr. Jitesh Pandey and Mr. Pankaj Thakur were also present. Sh. Jain assured them that he will take up the matter with Panjab University Authorities.
In his letter, Sh. Jain said that the allegations levelled by the students about the violations of Lyngdoh Committee norms are quite serious and they need to be enquired into by holding an independent enquiry. He said that if there are certain grievances or complaints in the minds of a section of the students, it is the legal as well as moral duty of the Panjab University Authorities to remove those grievances from their minds by holding independent and impartial enquiry into those allegations. Mr. Jain said that this is also essential for creating a congenial atmosphere in the campus.
