Chandigarh January 11, 2016 Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh would celebrate 153rd Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda Ji on January 12. Interdisciplinary Centre for Swami Vivekananda Studies (ICSVS) would organize a series of programmes to commemorate the day.
ICSVS Coordinator and Dean Students Welfare (Women), Prof Nandita Singh said that the Swami Vivekananda Philosophy and teachings are a great source of inspiration for the youth. His ideas pertaining to religious tolerance, Nation Building, Practical Vedanta, Self Development and Man Making are very relevant in the present context, she added. On the occasion, the Centre would organise various academic and cultural activities.
The programme would start at 10 AM by offering floral tributes followed by a Lecture on Yoga and Meditation by Prof. Dharmanand Sharma and Prof. Nandita Singh. A Practical Session on Yoga and Meditation would be held by Mr. Mohit Vasdev. Documentary Film on Swami Vivekananda would also be screened on the occasion.
A Panel Discussion on the theme of “Religious tolerance & Cultural Plurality: Vision for Nation Building” would be organized at 12 PM. Director (Academic) Institute for Development and Communication Chandigarh, Prof. S.L. Sharma; Dept. of English, Prof. Akshay Kumar; Dept of Philosophy, Prof. V.T. Sebastian would participate in the Panel Discussion. The discussion would be initiated by Dept of Philosophy, Dr. Pankaj Srivastava.
