Born in 1955 in Ferojpur, Prof. Satishkant of Satish Dhawan Govt. College, Ludhiyana was not only a rare expert of Hindi theatre and Drama in Panjab but also very popular among students and colleagues for his amicable and friendly disposition. His life came to a sudden end yesterday ( 22 July ), as he was returning home from college and met with an accident , dying on the spot. This sent shock waves across the region for his young age and for this unexpected misfortune to his family and near ones. He was a friend of friends, apart from being an accomplished scholar and D.Lit too in his subject. Having an teaching experience of around 35 years ( 30 years in Govt. College Ludhiyana alone ), he was also an approved research guide at PhD. level for Panjab University. An alumnus of PU Dept. of Hindi, he was on university bodies including Board of Studies for several years. literary meetings were alive with his exuberant presence and he dabbled in Panjabi language and literature circles too. The Hindi scene In Panjab has truly become poorer by his permanent absence .The faculty of dept. of Hindi PU is in deep shock after hearing the news and express its condolences, not only to his family, but to entire Hindi community of Panjab : and sincerely wishes his family and friends, students peace of mind and strength to bear the loss.
