Panjab University will hold National Conference on “Recent Trends in Plant Sciences with Special Reference to Phycology and Mycology”

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh would host a two-day National Conference on “Recent Trends in Plant Sciences with Special Reference to Phycology and Mycology” on October 28 to 29. The prestigious National Conference is being organised by the PU Botany Department under the aegis of UGC Special Assistance Programme (DRS-III). Various issues related to Plant Diversity will be discussed during the Conference. Director General, CSIR, New Delhi, Dr. P.S. Ahuja would inaugurate the conference at 10 AM on October 28, 2014 and PU DUI, Prof. A.K. Bhandari would preside over it. Eminent Botanists of the country including INSA Senior Scientist, Emeritus Professor, Department of Botany, Osmania University, Hyderabad Prof. C. Manoharachary, Director, IMTECH, Dr. Girish Sahni, FNA, B.H.U. Varanasi, Prof. L.C. Rai, Director, Birbal Savitri Sahni Foundation Museum, Lucknow Prof. S.C. Srivastava would deliberate in the Conference along with the young faculty & Scholars and PG students. Former Chairperson of the Department Prof. I.S. Dua would deliver a popular lecture entitled “The Homage to the Two Genes Waiting for others to revolutionise our Farms”. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof. A.K. Grover would Chair the evening lecture on October 28. Convener of the Conference Prof. I.B. Prasher and Chairman of the Department, Prof. A.S. Ahluwalia said that meaningful deliberations during the conference would enrich the students and the participants.
