By Jagpreet Sandhu ,Chandigarh , December 7 : In keeping with its tradition of exploring educational avenues on an international platform , Panjab University , Chandigarh on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (SHUPL), China. The six member delegation lead by Professor Jin Guohua, President, SHUPL met Prof .R.C.Sobti , Vice Chancellor, PU today at the VC office where the Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
The MoU aims at furthering the academic objectives of each institution and promoting a better understanding between the faculty and students of PU and SHUPL. Looking forward to the educational exchange between the two institutes, Prof Sobti said, “Education is the permanent way towards progress” , he also added that , “ While we have plenty of educational ventures with the Universities in the Western world, we should also focus on joint ventures with Universities in the Asia Pacific region.”
The MoU shall encourage activities like exchange of faculty members and students, joint research activities, participation in seminars and academic meetings , special short term academic programs, exchange of administrative managers and joint cultural programs subject to the availability of funds and approval of competent authorities of PU and SHUPL. The cooperation to be carried out between the Department of Political Science (UGC-SAP), PU and Department of International Affairs and Public Administration, SHUPL shall focus on the fields of study like, Political Science and its various sub disciplines; International Relations; Law and Public Administration; Language , literature and cultural studies; Sustainable Development and climate change.
Prof. B.S.Brar, Dean University Instructions, PU and Prof A.K.Bhandari, Registrar, Prof Sanjay Chaturvedi and Deepak Kumar Singh, Department of Political Science, PU were also present on the occasion and interacted with the international delegation which included Prof.JinGuohua, President , SHUPL, Wang Wei, Assistant to President; Gao Zhigang, Deputy Director of President office of SHUPL, Xu Zheng, Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs Office of SHUPL, Lu Jiarong, Deputy Director of Enrolment and Vocation Guidance Office and Guo Xuetang, Deputy Director of Center for strategic and international studies, SHUPL.
