CHANDIGARH-March 7, 2012: University Business School (UBS), Panjab University organized a national level seminar on ‘Innovations in Marketing’ at P.U. Campus here today. Over 50 research scholars, students and academia members from universities and colleges all over the country made submissions for the seminar organized by Prof. B.B. Goyal and Dr. Purva Kansal under the patronage of UBS Chairperson, Prof. Meenakshi Malhotra. Prof. Bhupinder Singh Brar, Dean University Instructions, Panjab University delivered the inaugural address.
He presented a finer definition of marketing to the audience and shared his experiences that substantiated the underlying ideas of the seminar. This was followed by an address from Mr. Ashu Phakey, Chief Operating Officer, Dainik Bhaskar. He shared his experiences of the corporate world and presented a detailed picture of marketing and innovations. The discussion focused on the importance of recognition of the needs and expectations of the consumers. Mr. Phakey steered the discussion out of the stereotyped premise of a keynote address and made it as interactive as possible. His address included numerous video clippings and caselets from national and international scenario relevant to the theme of the seminar.
The inaugural session was followed by a technical session from 11.30 AM to 1.00 PM which was chaired by Prof. A.K. Vashishth and Prof. S.C. Chadha. The guest speaker was Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Head of the Creative and Copy Department, Design Shack, conducted a very interactive session where he shared his knowledge and experience from the advertising industry. This was followed by the presentation of papers by the participating delegates. The papers discussed several emerging issues related to innovations in the field of marketing. The paper presentation sessions were chaired by faculty members of UBS. The technical sessions were followed by the valedictory address delivered by former UBS Chairman, Prof. Satish Kapoor. Being an expert in the area of International Business and Marketing, he shared his viewpoint on “Innovations in Marketing.” In his address, he also congratulated the department on choosing one of the most relevant themes for the seminar.
