CHANDIGARH: February 17, 2012: The second day of International Conference on “Frontiers in Nanoscience, Nanotechnology and their Applications (NanoSciTech- 2012)” witnessed a galaxy of scientists from across the globe. Two plenary talks and 17 invited lectures were delivered at the occasion and Over 180 budding scientists presented their work as oral lectures and poster presentations.
In the Plenary Session, Prof Fredric Guittard (France) apprised the audience of the Micro-nanostructuration to build up biomimetic superhydrophobic surfaces. Subsequently, Prof Azman Hassan (UTM, Malaysia) discussed the various aspects of Toughnening of Polylactic acid (PLA) and its Nanocomposites. The talk focused on formulation of environment friendly polymer nanocomposites of PLA. In the Technical Sessions, Prof Ariando (Singapore) presented his talk on Novel Functionalities at Atomically Flat Oxide Interfaces.
Prof A J Bhattacharya (IISc, Bangalore) focused on Benefits of Carbon in Nanostructured Lithium-Ion Battery Electrodes. Dr Gilberto Brambilla (UK) described the salient aspects of Optical Fibre Nanowire Sensors and their Applications. Prof Ashok Mishra (IIT, Chennai) talked about the Molecular level Understanding of PNIPAM Thermoreversible Nanogels, Bile salts and their Interactions. Dr Sanyog Jain (NIPER) talked on the meritorious visages on carbon nanotubes and their application in drug delivery.
Dr Samir Malhotra (PGIMER), in a very interactive talk, invited the scientists present at the Conference to collaborate in his novel idea of NanoPolyPills. Dr C Sekar (Karaikudi) discussed the Noanostructured WO3 as Biosensors and Supercapacitor Applications. Prof Keya Dharamwir (Panjab University) presented her experience on Modelling the Mechanical Properties of Buckyballs, Carbon Nanotubes and Their Aggregates. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, also from Panjab University, described the Flow of Fluid in Nanotubes/ Channels. Dr G S Chauhan (HPU, Shimla) discussed the application of Nanogels as Supports for Enzyme Immobilization. Dr Lalit Bhardwaj (Panjab University) presented a futuristic talk on Bionanotechnology based Economy: 2020. Prof V K Jindal (Panjab University) enlightened the audience on New Fullerenes and Carbon Nanotube based Green Energetic Materials. Prof Farhan Ahmad (Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi) talked on Applications of Nanotechnology in formulation of Herbal Medicines. Prof Anil Bhowmik (IIT, Patna), Prof A J Muller (Venezuela), Dr P J Christopher (Switzerland), Dr Harsh Chaturvedi (IISER, Pune), Dr Swaranjit Singh (IMTECH), Prof O P Katare (Panjab University)m Prof S K Sharma (PEC), Dr Rashmi (NPL, Delhi), Prof Sushant Lahiri (INP, Kolkata), Prof Aninda Bhattacharya (IISC, Bengalore), Prof Sanjeev Sofat (PEC), Prof C S Aulakh (Panjab University), Prof D K Dhawan (Panjab University), Prof Ashish Jain (Panjab University), Dr M Ahuja (MDU, Rohtak), Dr M Abebe (Ethiopia), Prof A S Ahluwalia (Panjab University) and Dr Ajay Vasisht (UPES, Dehradun) acted as the Chairpersons in the Technical Sessions.
