Chandigarh : Panjab University (PU) alumnus & Canada-based dentist, Dr Harvansh Singh Judge has offered to contribute Rs 11 Lakh to the University for the renovation of PU Registrar house. It may be recalled that about ten years ago, Dr Judge has earlier donated handsome amount of money for setting up the Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital (HSJIDCH) in the Sector 25 campus.
Dr Judge made the offer in a mail sent to PU Vice Chancellor, Professor Arun Kumar
Grover. He said, “We should make the new Registrar welcome instead of raising these
issues. As we all know this administrative position is not a 9 to 5 job, it involves lot
of stress and after hours work and responsibilities to run the University affairs”. Dr
Judge noted that it does not look well and appropriate for the prestige of our University.
“Please excuse me for my comment on P.U. official business. Being an alumnus of the
University (graduated over “50” years ago) I will like to express, how I feel about the
issue of basic renovation and furnishing of the accommodation in the news media”, he said.
“If it is acceptable and I am allowed to, I can contribute these funds of rupees 11
lakhs from my retirement funds; instead of you raising special committee for
investigation and waiting for their favourable recommendation”, he added.
“We, me and the University, are not doing this a favour to any one but our
responsibility to provide the “BASIC” accommodation for the person holding this
position”, he further added.
