Pakistani scholars visit the PU. Scientists, Principals, Deans, Professors, minor poets, some students mainly from the Punjab University, Lahore and the Government College University, Lahore are coming. They would be with us at PU from the evening of the 18th December 2011 to the afternoon of the 21st December.
The University of Punjab, Lahore [as it is called now] was the original university from which our PU emerged after the partition of India in 1947. Currently it is the largest universities in Pakistan.
The Government College, Lahore that was elevated to the status of a University some years ago was founded in 1853 and was one of the original colleges where research in the sciences was carried out in those days. The Department of Chemical Engineering at PU, Chandigarh is one of the off shoots of the research being done at that college.
This particular interaction with these scholars is being called ‘Friendship Seminar’. We hope this interaction might result in some MoUs between Panjab University Chandigarh and Panjab University Lahore that would be beneficial to both universities. After all Lahore is almost the same distance from Chandigarh as is Delhi! And in the present days of confidence building it may be possible to have greater interaction between scholars of the two universities.
