The India Post, Chandigarh, 10th October, 2008 :A blood donation camp was organized today at Panjab University Student Centre by ‘Student Council’ P.U. in collaboration with ‘Dainik Jagran’ in the memory of Late Sh. Narender Mohan ji (former M.P. Rajya Sabha). Prof. R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University while inaugurating the Camp said that Narender Mohan ji was eminent scholar as well as great writer who did lot for the society.
Total number of 58 units of blood was collected during the four hour Camp. Students of D.C.E.T., U.I.E.T., Mass Communication, Maths., Statistics, Psychology, Economics & U.I.L.S. donated blood generously. Dr. Keshav Malhotra, Fellow, P.U.(regular blood donor who has donated blood more than 40 times), Dr. J.K. Goswami, Dr. Jatinder Grover, Dr. M.C. Sidhu, the Wardens of various Hostels, Mr. Sahil Nanda, President and Mr. Prashant Sharma, Secretary of P.U. Student Council along with SOPU Leader, Mr. Varinder Dhillon, ABVP Leader, Mr. Dinesh Chauhan, INSO Leader, Mr. Sukhdev Kundu made tremendous efforts to make this Camp a grand success.
Shri Gopal Krishan Chatrath, Fellow & Syndic, P.U., Dr. Rabinder Nath Sharma, Fellow, P.U., Prof. Naval Kishore, Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Ronki Ram, President, P.U.T.A., Prof. Ashwani Kaul, Secretary, P.U.T.A., Prof. A.S. Ahluwalia, former President, P.U.T.A., Prof. R.K. Kohli, Botany Department, Dr. Kamaljit Singh, Fellow, P.U., Dr. Vijay Chopra and Dr. G.C. Chauhan (Faculty Evening Studies) were present during the Camp. Shri Nishikant Thakur (Dainik Jagran) and Ms. Meenakshi Sharma (Bureau Chief, Dainik Jagran) also visited the Camp and motivated and praised students for their generous effort.
The Director of Blood Bank Society, Sector 37, Chandigarh said that at this particular juncture society needs blood very much as patients of Dengue from various nearby States are regularly coming to the Hospitals like P.G.I. as well as Govt. College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh. He also said that Dengue patients urgently need blood platelets and we are making effort to provide it for the needy patients.
