A seven day special NSS camp was organized by the NSS unit, SGGS college, sector 26, Chandigarh. The camp was conducted under the able guidance of Dr Amit Joshi, NSS Programme Officer and Principal H.S.Sohi. A total of 135 students and 7 faculty members from various streams attended this camp. The theme for this year’s camp was “Quality education, Anti-Drug awareness and Anti-Corruption”.
The camp was inaugurated on 24th October by Sh Bikram Rana, S.L.O. NSS Unit, Chandigarh administration. During this camp the volunteers carried out more than a dozen of social activities. A number of trips were organised for different places like old age home, Blind school and Ashadeep. The volunteers interacted with the inmates of these homes and later on held a brainstorming session to find new efficient ways in which these inmates can be helped. In addition to this, eminent personalities like Dr R.C.Sobti, former Vice Chancellor, Panjab University and Sh Amit Hans, an IIM alumni delivered lectures, guided and motivated students to sincerely work for NSS. The unit adopted village Kishangarh for this year and the NSS volunteers have already started teaching Math and science classes at the village school said Dr Amit Joshi, Programme Officer for NSS. The camp concluded with a trip to Virasat-E-Khalsa and Sri Anandpur Sahib.
