Chandigarh : A workshop on ‘Role of Girl Child in preserving Environment ‘ was organized in the school to commemorate the National Girl Child Day by Environment Society of India, Chandigarh.Mrs. Prerna Mehta conducted the day’s proceeding and talked about Ecofeminism. The Chief Guest Dr. A.S. Chahal , Chairman Bio-diversity Board Haryana delivered the keynote lecture giving an insight on the environmental issues and Role of Girl Child in this sphere stressing on values which can be inculcated by aware mothers.
Dr. RadheShyam Sharma Scientist from Scientific Environment Department of Haryana, sensitised the students about the balance of nature and dire need to maintain it. Dr. Deepak Kumar (coordinator C.R.R.I.) and Dr. Gopal Aiyyar (Retd. Prof.) emphasised on the Socio-Cultural dimensions regarding the role of Girl Child in Preserving environment. Principal Dr. U. Kapatia proposed the vote of thanks and acquainted the students of the salient points of the day. Mrs. Nisha,a teacher of the school, summed up almost all the issues in her self-composed poem which touched the core of everybody’s heart.
